Ear infections
Ear infections can occur for a variety of reasons. It is important to rule out underlying issues with the ear canal, ear drum or middle ear.
A full ENT assessment, including a hearing test, will help to rule out issues that predispose to recurrent infections such as a hole in the eardrum. Treatment may include preventative measures, medication or surgery to repair a hole in the eardrum. Read more
Hearing loss
The causes of hearing loss vary widely across different age groups. Hearing loss in children may lead to speech & language delay, social isolation and behavioural difficulties. It is also associated with dementia in the older population and it is therefore crucial to identify and tackle accordingly through surgery or hearing rehabilitation.
We work in close conjunction with a team of expert Audiologists, skilled in the assessment and management of all age groups.
Dizziness & vertigo
Disorders of balance can lead to injury through falls, or have a significant impact on activities of daily living. There are many causes of dizziness, relating to the inner ears, vision, musculoskeletal system, and brain, and therefore a comprehensive approach is required in managing this condition successfully.
Our team has specific expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating dizziness and vertigo, with the aim of resuming normal activity and reducing the risk of injury.
TINnitus
The perception of noise in one or both ears is a very common condition. This often relates to changes in hearing but may need further investigation or management depending on the type of noise perceived and its impact on daily activities.
We offer comprehensive assessment to exclude any underlying problems, and a variety of treatment options to reduce the impact of tinnitus on quality of life.
Eustachian tube dysfunction
Ear pressure, muffled hearing and pain may relate to underlying eustachian tube dysfunction. This condition arises when the lining of the eustachian tube is swollen, and may relate to underlying nasal allergies or infections.
We offer a range of medical and surgical options to address this condition.
Mastoid surgery
Certain ear conditions may result in progressive damage to structures in and surrounding the middle ear if longstanding and left untreated. Chronic ear infections and hearing loss may be a sign of more serious underlying ear disease, including cholesteatoma. This may result in further complications including dizziness, facial weakness and meningitis, and often requires surgical intervention.
Our team offers specialist experience in primary and revisional middle ear and mastoid surgery. Read more
